Holding Events on our Estates

Outdoor events are a great way to bring people together, strengthen communities and create opportunities for people to enjoy activities that support health and wellbeing. They help make Southwark a vibrant and welcoming place.

At the moment, the process for getting permission to hold an outdoor event on our housing estates is not always clear or consistent. We want to introduce a policy that makes the process clearer and fairer for everyone.

The policy will set out which events can take place and how decisions will be made. It aims to support people to organise events while making sure they are safe, meet legal requirements and consider the needs of people living nearby.

The draft policy is based on a similar approach used for events in Southwark’s parks.
