Wilson Grove Walking Improvements

As part of Streets for People, our ambitious plan to make it easier for people to walk and cycle around Southwark, we are looking at ways to make pavements around the borough more accessible.

We have identified Wilson Grove as a place where mature trees have broken the pavement and make it hard to use, especially for people in wheelchairs or with pushchairs.

We are proposing to build out several areas of pavement along Wilson Grove. particularly:-

• opposite the junction with Emba Street on the east side
• either side of the junction with Janeway Street, on the west side

Widening the pavement in these locations will require the loss of 10 current parking bays. Our parking survey suggests there is space to accommodate this loss on Wilson Grove and the neighbouring roads.

We’ll also be installing tactile paving at side roads and vehicle crossovers to improve accessibility for Blind and visually impaired residents.

The proposed changes will make it safer for people to walk, cycle and wheel, reducing traffic speed along Wilson Grove.
