Many people think that 'Building Safety' covers all aspects of safety for residents who live in high-rise buildings. However, the new law is very specific. Building safety under the Act is all about protecting residents from the risk of fire spreading throughout a high-rise building and the risk of structural damage.

The Building Safety Act (2022)

Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy in 2017, the Building Safety Act (2022) was introduced to make sure our high-rise buildings are safe for everyone. Here’s what you need to know:

1. Who it Affects: The new law applies to buildings taller than 18 meters or 7 floors with 2 or more flats.

2. Your Responsibilities: As a resident, you have a role in keeping your home and common areas safe.

3. Our Responsibilities: As your landlord, we have the responsibility of managing and maintaining the safety of your building.

4. Resident Engagement: You’ll receive a strategy to help you get involved in decisions about building safety.

5. Protection For Leaseholders: You won’t have to pay for removing dangerous cladding, and there’s a limit on how much you’ll have to pay for other repairs.
