Victory Primary School Street

Tell us what you think about plans for a camera-controlled 'School Street' on Elba Place.

We have developed initial plans for a 'School Street' on Elba Place.

Using Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, motor vehicles would be banned from entering this section of road during school opening and closing hours (up to an hour each morning and afternoon). There would be exemptions for:-

  • emergency services
  • residents within the scheme area will be able to apply for a free permit
  • registered carers of residents within the scheme, and blue badge holders working at or dropping people off at the school will be able to apply for a permit
  • Southwark school transport vehicles (school transport vehicles from elsewhere will be able to apply for a permit

Trials of 'School Street' closures across Southwark have been very well received by schools and parents, contributing greatly to children's safety, improving air quality outside schools, and making it easier for children to get to school by walking or cycling.

We are keen to hear from residents on the surrounding roads, as well as from parents and teachers at Victory Primary School, about how this scheme should work and any concerns you may have.
