Proposed new cycle hangars - Summer 2024

Southwark Council is consulting on our latest batch of proposed cycle hangar locations. We would like to hear your views on the locations proposed. If you live next to one of the locations, you will receive a letter in the post (see attached letter).

Each bike hangar has room for 6 cycles and is accessed using a unique key (although, for additional security we always advise users to lock their cycle to the rack inside the hangar).

Each hangar will replace a single car parking space. This is part of the council’s commitment to supporting healthier forms of travel.

A space in the hangar is available for rent for £60 incl. VAT per annum and a refundable deposit of £25 will also be charged for the hangar key. The rental system is operated by Cyclehoop (www.cyclehoop.com). Anyone who registers an interest in securing a space will be added to the priority list which will be passed to Cyclehoop upon installation of the hangar.

We are working hard to install hangars in as many locations as possible that people have requested - but we know demand still outstrips supply, and we request your patience.
