Lower Road Safety Improvements

Lower Road cycleway scheme provides a segregated cycleway along the A200 Lower Road from Rotherhithe roundabout to Evelyn St in Lewisham. It is the last part of cycleway 4 to be built, which provides a dedicated cycleway from London Bridge to Greenwich.​ 

The scheme has the following aims:

• Improve walking, cycling and wheeling
• Create safer, more accessible route for cyclists
• Provide a high-quality, two-way segregated cycle route between London Bridge and Greenwich
• Encourage people to shop local to help businesses and reduce car use

Following the 12-month construction, the cycleway was officially opened to the public on 4 March 2024.
