
Resident Boards Recruitment Application
Are you passionate about strengthening Southwark’s residents’ voice?
Do you want to help improve Southwark Council’s Landlord Services?
If your answers are 'YES!' this Board opportunity may be for you.
Southwark Council is seeking Resident Board Members, and you’re invited to apply to one of the five boards set up to help shape our Landlord Services. The boards are:
· Tenant Housing management Board (THMB)
· Homeowner Housing management Board (HHMB)
· Building Safety Residents’ Board (BSRB)
· Repairs Improvement Residents’ Board (RIRB)
· Major Works Residents’ Board (MWRB)
Resident Boards will be composed of residents from various backgrounds who will bring different skills and experiences to the work to improve services for tenants and homeowners. The maximum membership of each board will be 20 residents.
Board members will be responsible for overseeing improvement in Southwark Council’s Landlord Services and will play a critical role in shaping, and scrutinising these services by:
- Performance oversight and monitoring
- working with us to redesign our services

Application phase
Purpose
The purpose of the boards is to scrutinise performance, hold us to account, and co-design services. The boards will play a critical role in influencing our strategies and policy, You will be involved in shaping, and scrutinising our services, collaborating with us to refresh and redesign services and making recommendations for improvement to ensure we are meeting the regulatory standards and the outcomes in the Good Landlord Plan.
Who Should Apply?*
We welcome applications from Southwark council tenants and homeowners passionate about improving Southwark Council’s landlord services.
If you are a member of the Repairs Improvement Board your application will be prioritised.

*Please note: Membership to the building safety residents’ board is limited to those who live in high rise blocks or those over 7 storeys or 18 meters high. Membership to tenant housing management board is limited to tenants or their household members, and only homeowners or their household members can join the homeownership board.
Commitment required
Following the selection process, the tenure of members will be for three years out of every five, and board members will meet quarterly with 2 sessions in person only. To find out more about the boards and what we are looking for please read the documents attached.
