Highways Infrastructure Management Plan - Review 2025

Help us review our strategy for maintaining our highways.

Back in 2018 we consulted with residents and professional stakeholders on the new Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Plan (HIAMP); a single strategy to bring together flood risk management, winter maintenance, road maintenance, inspection frequencies and how we report on road conditions that affect the spending on our roads.

We set out a new approach, where more of our works would be part of a planned maintenance scheme, rather than spend money reacting to reports of defects.

Since then, changes in council policies and how we use the road network have led to a number of adjustments to the HIAMP documents. We thought this was a good opportunity to bring the strategy back to the public and check that it is still fit for purpose.

Please see below for a brief description of the documents in this strategy, and the key changes in each.
