Feedback and Updates

13 June 2025 23:00 - 18 June 2025 23:00

Update following initial consultation:

Thank you to all those who shared your thoughts and comments during the consultation in April & May 2025. Nearly 180 people completed the survey which was a great response, so a special thank you to those who helped spread the word!

Summary of the most common requests were:

Play equipment:

  • Adventurous equipment that is challenging and exciting for older children (circa 7+).

Common requests:

  • climbing feature with towers/platforms, which allow for progression, could include either or a mix of walls/nets/bridges etc.
  • appropriate height monkey bars
  • large slide (tunnel or open)
  • a zip line however, we are not sure whether one could be accommodated within the available space

Football goal / basketball & climbing facility:

  • Replace with something similar perhaps extending the play opportunity behind.
  • Consider rotating the goal area so that balls do not impact on the entry gate/access route or the toddler swing area
  • Consider separating the football and basketball offer

What's next

We have play equipment proposals from 3 specialist play companies. Their design brief was based on public feedback during the first consultation. We now need your help in deciding which specialist play company to go with and provide the play equipment for Goose Green Playground. The survey will be live from Wednesday 18 June for four weeks.

Drop-in events

We will be holding two more drop-in events which will be held in the play area on:

  • Friday 20 Jun 25 from 3.00pm – 6:00pm
  • Saturday 5 Jul 25 from 9.30am – 12:00pm

Pop in to the play area at Goose Green playground to view and discuss the design options for the new play equipment. Council officers will be available to answer any question you may have regarding the play area and support will be available to complete the online survey.
