GALA 2026 and On The Rye Festival

The council has received an application from an event promoter (Assembled GALA Ltd), requesting to hold a major-scale event series in Peckham Rye Park in May 2026. The programme includes 7 live event days over two weekends:

The first weekend (22-25 May) to include three days of pay-to-attend, ticketed events (Friday to Sunday), and a free-to-attend community event on the bank holiday Monday.

The second weekend (29-31 May) to include three pay-to-attend, ticketed events.

In accordance with the council's Outdoor Events Policy, the council's Events team is consulting with stakeholders so that they have an opportunity to comment on the application and event proposals that have been put forward.

All responses to the consultation will be recorded and a ‘consultation findings’ report will be published once feedback has been reviewed. The review process involves collating feedback from a number of council teams and external agencies - the aim will be to publish the report as soon as possible after the consultation has closed and no later than the 31 January 2026. The report will be published on this site.

While individual responses may be referenced in the report, anything that might personally identify a respondent will be removed or redacted.

It is the intention to circulate details of this consultation broadly in order to hear the views and opinions of as many people as possible; please pass on details of this consultation to those that might be interested in taking part. 

The Council's Events team will be facilitating two community engagement sessions on Wednesday 19 November. The sessions will enable people to learn more about plans for the event direct from the event organisers.

The first session will be online (via MS Teams), starting at 12pm.

The second session will take place in-person in POD 1 at Peckham Library, starting at 6:30pm.
