George-Anthony Riccardi•2 years ago New traffic signs are popping up everywhere it seems however, these signs are an amalgamation of four if not five different, somewhat familiar yet confusingly placed traffic signs some that give the impression one can access, some giving the impression one cannot access a road past these new signs…… I would like to draw attention to the very very confusing new signage that appears on roads that are either close to schools or roads that had access restricted due to more green space being added or new dead end roads being created to make flow of traffic go in a certain direction for some reason, or another, one is only allowed to drive into/through these roads at specific times of the day and only on certain days of the week!?These signs are making use of multiple images, like a car in a circle, with another circle with a bike or additional one way signs included, next to or above, or give way arrows, plus the additional white box with a paragraph of text stipulating a convoluted and most confusing message about restrictions and the roads access, it appears that many many residents and visitors in Southwark that are either autistic or those whom are neurodiverse, find these new signs in particular extremely unhelpful and distressingly confusing, ultimately leading to a lot of disabled drivers being, in my opinion, unfairly fined extortionate amounts of money for driving down roads that have previously not been restricted in such a way. I would like to call for these roads with the restrictions that I am speaking about to be brought into conversation in regards to in particular, exemptions being made for disabled and or blue badge holders within Southwark, I beleive should be exempt from these restricted access roads, due to the simple fact that those living with autism and or neurodiversity, innately cannot understand such complex signs, or even read these new signs quickly enough or correctly enough and end up making an incorrect decision when put under pressure in such a way, that amounts to discrimination to those disabled people that have difficulties understanding these signs receiving fines/penalties.
