This page is for you, the residents of Rotherhithe, to raise the priorities that you are passionate about in this Neighbourhood. You can discuss each other’s ideas by commenting on other people’s posts and show your support for ideas by liking posts. This page will be reviewed regularly and ideas will be shared with the Neighbourhood Champion for their consideration and could be discussed at a future Neighbourhood meeting.

If you raise specific issues that might be better addressed by one of the teams here at the council then we will direct you to the best team to contact.

Rotherhithe emerging priorities

Endri Horanlli4 days ago Several years ago, a working group, with the assistance of MET police and Southwark came together to review ongoing ASB issues along Queen of Denmark Court and Princes Court, making up Greenland Passage. As a result, bollards were installed along the Thames River path which have reduced some of the ASB, but it remains a problem. There is ANPR on the roads, however ASB continues, with cars speeding through whilst covering their registrations; balloons being inhaled and rubbish left all around the road/pavement; music blasting for drinking parties or to record music videos or doing shoots of their cars. It is extremely disruptive and is impacting overall health and safety as those living along the riverfront are unable to enjoy the area peacefully or safely. Can something be done to close off the apex section of the road at Queen of Denmark Court, as that is a hotspot due to the backdrop of Canary Wharf, where many come to sit inside their cars, music blasting, or record videos etc.? A similar thing occurs at Princes Court, though that may be a bit more difficult to close given it is not a through road. Closing off this section of the road, I believe, would have a massive impact on further reducing ASB. Thank you.

C 3 months ago Canada Water station is one of most highly frequented stations in all of London. There will be significantly more traffic once the development attracts residents and commuters who will work here.It seems strange that the next post boxes are in Timber Pond Row, at the junction of Lower Road and Surrey Quays Road, and the far end of Tesco but not at the place where many more people pass through every day, namely Canada Water station.While physical mail has become less important, it is still necessary for some matters, and we should make post boxes easily available (considering not only but especially vulnerable people).

Dee On5 months ago I believe Rotherhithe would benefit from more multiuse outdoor sports and exercise facilities. Currently, the green space mainly offers benches, with no dedicated areas for physical activity. There is an already contingent of people who use the thames path running, however adding low maintenance dedicated sports areas (flat spaces, potentially covered) and fitness equipment (fitness bars) would encourage more people, especially youth, to exercise, helping to tackle the local health issues and promote a more active community.

Cristina U6 months ago E-bikes and scooters for hire (Lime, Forest, etc) are often found parked in inappropriate places, blocking pathways, entrances to buildings, etc, making it difficult for people in wheelchairs or pushing buggies to navigate the streets. Introducing rules around admissible parking spots, like other Boroughs are doing, would solve this issue. E-bikes and scooters often go at dangerous speed on Russia Dock Woodland pathways, and pathways around Rotherhite. This puts children and people at risk. E-bike accidents are known to result in extremely serious injuries, and sometimes death of pedestrians involved. It would be helpful to find ways to address this issue, preventing accidents of this nature

N P5 months ago The council need to think again about the transport issues around Rotherhithe regarding, road congestion, cycling and underground/overground stations.The roundabout at Rotherhithe tunnel should have yellow boxes and enforcement cameras. The never ending congestion on Jamaica road and lower road is mostly caused by people using the tunnel who don’t follow basic rules of the road and block the roundabout exits for people who don’t even want to go to the tunnel.The cycle highway needs to be better enforced somehow as cyclists will plough through red lights and zebra crossings, going significantly faster than cars. They don’t seem to view themselves as subject to the rules of the road and are a risk to themselves and pedestrians. The zebra crossing on lower road outside Ann moss way is almost invisible during heavy traffic congestion or lower light levels, so cyclists and vehicles rarely stop for pedestrians there. We also need to do something about hire bikes being strewn across pavements and parked in the most obviously disruptive and dangerous places. The capacity of Canada Water tube station is at its limit during rush hour, as everyone switches from overground to underground line every couple of minutes. The lifts at Canada Water are also always out of service, and for a populated area with so many people using buggies and wheelchairs the infrequency of lift service is not acceptable
