Gemma Lau9 months ago Our church, St Clement with St Peter (140 Friern Road, SE22 0AY, also entry from Barry Road, opposit Silvester Road) has a large heritage orchard which contains a number of different young growing fruit trees, wildflowers and growing beds. It is a haven for insects, birds and many different species of bees. There is grass and there are benches. During COVID it became an important place for people to sit and enjoy outdoor space. The space is open to the public and is currently looked after by a small group of volunteers from the wider church community. We are keen for this lovely tucked away and peaceful Orchard space to cared for, and looked after well, it is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to see fruit grow, learn about insects, biodiversity and the ecology. We are, as a church, limited in funds and support are looking for ways in which to help support and sustain this project, for the benefit of the whole community.

PB G5 months ago Lordship Lane between The Lordship Pub and the Roundabout is a great high street, and heavily used by locals, as well as being a destination for shopping due to the number and variety of shops. However the walkability of this is low - with narrow and uneven footpaths with pinch-points between many of the shops, and the street due to trees, safety barriers and bus stops. This can make it unsafe for less-mobile individuals, and a struggle for those with prams, children and dogs as during many periods through the day, and particularly on weekends limiting the appeal and accessibility of the area as there is often insufficient space for people walking in more than single file in a single direction. Examples of areas that fall into this criteria include 67-91; 89/91; 116; 141-147.There are several ideas to address this. Aim for a minimum width of flat, even footpath that supports at least two individuals walking side-by-side, or passing in opposite directions. Introducing traffic calming measures through a change to a 3 lane setup, with a lane in each direction and utilising alternating sides for bus stops, loading zones, e-cycle parking; secure cycle parking which would allow for widening through the reclaimation of approx 3m of a lane - much of which is currently parking Reduce the number of on-street parking spots, and where removed to widen footpaths at areas of low pedestrian width along this shopping and dining zone. Remove disused payphone boxes and on-street advertising (i.e. BT new-gen advertising and sandwich boards) which take-up space and introduce additional pinchpoints Ensure that secure Bicycle parking is located on wider sections of the footpath only Some of the additional space could provide additional waste-bins, which are limited and often over-flowing on weekends and public holidays; and garden beds. To ensure parking is still available to shoppers rather than long-term parking, reduce length of stay for Lordship Lane on-street parking on weekends as well as Mon-Fri. Improve the intersection for flow of traffic on Lordship Lane/East Dulwich Grove The improvement of Lordship Lane would support some of the goals of council's 'Streets for People' strategy, and ensure the commercial viability of Lordship Lane's businesses.
