Listening to experiences of exclusion in school - survey
Southwark Council is running a project to understand the experiences of parents and families in Southwark whose children have been permanently excluded, suspended or are regularly absent from school. Having a child who has experienced exclusion in a school can be a challenging experience. Parents’ voices are so important in helping us create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all children.
If you’re a Southwark resident and your child attended a Southwark school between September 2021 - July 2024 and experienced exclusion, we want to hear from you. We want to understand your experience — what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what support you feel is most needed. What you tell us will inform our work with schools and our services supporting families, helping every child have a good start in life.
Through this survey, we will develop an independent report to continue work with the schools community to further reduce expulsion and suspensions in Southwark. The survey results will not be published as standalone findings. Your data will be kept anonymously and you will not be identifiable in any products from the project.
Please be aware we cannot reverse any decisions made regarding your child and their education, but we want to understand the experiences of children and families so we can develop new services and improve our offer to families. If you need support, please take a look at our services through our Local Offer for children and families: Home | Southwark Local Offer
