Crampton Primary School Street Proposals
Tell us what you think about plans for a camera-controlled 'School Street' on Illife Street.
We have worked with Crampton Primary School to develop plans for a 'School Street' on Iliffe Street; which will include Peacock Street and Peacock Yard, from the junction with Crampton Street, down the length of Iliffe Street to the traffic filter at the junction with Penton Place. Using Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, motor vehicles would be banned from travelling through this section of road during school opening and closing hours (up to an hour each morning and afternoon). There would be exemptions for:-
- emergency services
- residents within the scheme area will be able to apply for a free permit
- registered carers of residents within the scheme, and blue badge holders working at or dropping people off at the school will be able to apply for a permit
- Southwark school transport vehicles (school transport vehicles from elsewhere will be able to apply for a permit
Trials of 'School Street' closures across Southwark have been very well received by schools and parents, contributing greatly to children's safety, improving air quality outside schools, and making it easier for children to get to school by walking or cycling. We are keen to hear from residents and businesses of Iliffe Street, Peacock Street, Peacock Yard and the surrounding roads, as well as from parents and teachers at Crampton Primary School, about how this scheme should work and any concerns you may have.
