Southwark Council has gathered the views of its residents to help design a new Carer Centre for unpaid carers living in Southwark.

Tender process
In November 2025, the council launched the Carer Service tender. This means that organisations interested in delivering the Carer Service have six weeks to submit an application to deliver the service. Over January and February 2026, the council will review all the bids and will follow the legal process for choosing the successful organisation.
The four carers involved in the service design working group will also be part of the evaluation process, meaning they will help to select the successful organisation.
Following the evaluation, internal council governance processes will be followed to award the contract to the successful organisation. The successful organisation will then be supported to prepare to start delivering the new service.
The new contract for the Carer Service is expected to start in October 2026.
