Bricklayers Arms gyratory
Southwark Council wish to carry out a feasibility study to assess the development potential of land allocated as OKR1 in the emerging Old Kent Road area action plan (AAP). Building on existing master planning work, the study will help shape emerging place-making principles and assess development capacity. We will be exploring the potential to reconfigure and improve the transport network, create more land for housing and repair a historic stretch of high streets to stitch the site back into its surrounding neighbourhoods, focussing on creating high quality public realm, improving accessibility and movement and green space.
The first stage is to gather ideas and understand the issues and desires for the site and surrounding area. This will help to gauge the overall ambition for the area that will align with the needs and desires of residents, businesses and visitors.

HEAR RESPONSES TO SESSION 02 + SHARE THOUGHTS FOR THE FUTURE OF THE BRICKLAYERS ARMS GYRATORY
Following the progress of session 01 of Southwarks engagement event ‘Re-imagining the Bricklayers Arms’, the team collated the findings from session 01 and additional stakeholder discussions to form an initial strategic design response for the future of the Bricklayers Arms roundabout and its surrounding areas (referred to as OKR1 in the AAP). A number of themes emerged from the first session which has formed the proposed approach. The team presented ideas and options for the public to engage with and comment upon at Session 02 held on 11th December 2024 at Forma Art gallery.
Please review the boards and respond to the questions posed.
