Apply to join the Black Culture Conversation Steering Group – deadline 15th December

Southwark Council is looking for new members to join the Black Culture Conversation Steering Group.

A dynamic, creative Southwark is vital for all our futures. A thriving Black cultural sector contributes to the social, economic and environmental well-being and relevance of the borough. Southwark Council’s Black Culture Conversation was established to ensure that those with lived experience of the challenges and obstacles facing underrepresented communities in the creative sector are heard and to build a sustainable vision for Black Culture in the borough.

The Black Culture Conversation Steering Group, alongside Southwark Council’s Culture team, are responsible for the deliverables of the Black Culture Conversation and to drive forward its vision and ambitions. The group is made up of local representatives from across the cultural, community and voluntary sectors, who meet regularly with council officers to shape plans and ensure feedback to the wider community.

The first stage of the Black Culture Conversation has focused on governance, planning and community engagement. As we move into the second stage, we are looking for two new steering group members to support the delivery of projects and initiatives. As a steering group member, you will be an excellent communicator, who can work effectively with others. We are looking for individuals with skills and experience in advocacy, finance and funding, ideally with strong links to the arts and cultural sector.

We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those currently less represented in the creative sector. We are particularly interested to receive applications for this role from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Please express your interest by completing an application (including your CV) below by 15 December
