America Street

Better Bankside is working in partnership with Southwark Council to make improvements to America Street. Proposals include:

• Improving the street for pedestrians and cyclists by removing access for motor vehicles. Emergency services will continue to have access.
• Putting in greenery to make it more attractive and improve biodiversity.
• New benches to encourage more use of the space and increase footfall.

We will ensure that the design is sensitive to the surrounding area and make it more pleasant for all.

America St follows the council's Streets for People objectives by providing improved walking and cycling routes, whilst introducing greenery in the area.
