We have installed electric hotplates for outdoor cooking in Burgess park, and want to find out what you think about this new facility.

Feedback and Updates
Following the second trial period in 2025 and with mixed feedback from the consultation, we will use this year as a further opportunity to understand how the area works and consider options for improving it. The aim is to offer a safe and sustainable space for community gatherings.
The hotplates have become a popular spot for residents, providing a space for families, friends, and community groups to cook and socialise outdoors. Their introduction followed the removal of the previous charcoal BBQs, which had posed fire risks, affected local air quality and contributed to increased litter in the park.
Using the Hotplates
The council asks that all users to stick to health and safety guidelines, use the facilities responsibly, and dispose of waste properly.
The electric hotplates are available daily until the end of summer, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
Council officers will continue to monitor the use of the hotplates during this time.
