There appears to be a significant gap in secure cycle hangar provision across the Rotherhithe area, particularly across the peninsula when compared with surrounding parts of Southwark.

Rotherhithe is a predominantly residential area, with many residents living in flats and estates where secure and convenient bicycle storage can be difficult. For people living on upper floors, particularly in buildings without lifts, having to carry a bicycle up several flights of stairs and find space to store it inside the home can make regular cycling impractical.

I experience this personally as a resident of Basque Court, near Needleman Street, where I live on the third floor without a lift and have limited space to store a bicycle. However, this request is intended to highlight the wider need for secure cycle storage throughout Rotherhithe, rather than solely at one particular building or street.

The existing hangar map appears to show considerably more provision in surrounding areas, while large parts of residential Rotherhithe have relatively few convenient options. A hangar near Basque Court would be very welcome, but I would also strongly support additional hangars at suitable locations elsewhere across Rotherhithe where there is local demand.

Providing more secure, street-level cycle storage would make cycling a much more practical option for residents who do not have garages, gardens or suitable storage within their homes.

I hope Southwark Council will consider the wider Rotherhithe area for additional cycle hangars, and I would encourage other local residents who would benefit from secure cycle storage to support this request.
