Oakhurst Grove

From "Where should we have bike hangars?"

Go to the project

Many homes on Oakhurst Grove are Victorian terraces and conversions with no front garden, side access or shed, so residents who want to cycle have nowhere safe to keep a bike. Some carry bikes up narrow stairs, some leave them chained outside and risk theft.

A single hangar stores around six bikes in the footprint of one parked car. It lets neighbours cycle for the school run, the commute to Peckham Rye or East Dulwich station, and local errands, which means fewer car journeys, less congestion and cleaner air on our street. It also supports the council's own aims on active travel and air quality.

There is clear local demand as many other households on the road cycle everyday. I think the council should install a hangar on Oakhurst Grove at the earliest opportunity.
