• 18:00 - 18:20: Presentation from council officers on four SPDs

This includes the Householder Development SPD, Climate and Environment SPD, Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy SPD and Affordable Housing SPD.

• 18:20 - 18:40: Discussion

A discussion led by council officers on the topics covered in the SPDs.

• 18:40 - 19:00: Questions

Attendees can ask council officers any questions about the presentation or SPDs

• 19:00 - 20:00: Informal drop-in

Council officers will be available for this hour to answer any questions about the SPDs and to help attendees fill out the consultation surveys.

What are we consulting on?

The council is consulting on four supplementary planning documents (SPDs):

• Householder Development SPD
• Climate and Environment SPD
• Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy SPD
• Affordable Housing SPD

The consultation will close on 27th November 2024.

What are Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)?

Supplementary planning documents (SPDs) provide additional guidance on existing policies in an adopted local plan (For Southwark, this is the Southwark Plan 2022).

They are a material consideration in the decision-making process. This means the council will consider the guidance within an SPD when assessing and determining a planning application. SPDs cannot be used to introduce new planning policies.

Why your views matter

This consultation provides the opportunity for you to share your views on emerging planning policy in Southwark. The guidance in the SPDs will become part of the council's decision making, helping to shape future development in the borough.
